Getting Started

Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist in DC?
No. Washington DC is a direct-access state, which means you can see a physical therapist without a physician referral. However, some insurance plans require a referral for coverage — check your policy or call us and we'll help you figure it out.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online using our scheduling page, or call us at (661) 599-4250. We typically have new patient appointments available within 1–2 weeks.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your insurance card, a photo ID, any relevant imaging reports (MRI, X-ray), and any referral or prescription if applicable. Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the affected area.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your initial evaluation is 60 minutes with Dr. Steinbach. She will review your history, assess your movement and strength, identify the root cause of your problem, and develop a personalized treatment plan. Most patients begin treatment in the same visit.

Treatment

How long is each session?
Initial evaluations are 60 minutes. Follow-up sessions are typically 45–60 minutes. All sessions are one-on-one with Dr. Steinbach.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies widely depending on your condition. Most patients see significant improvement in 6–10 sessions. At your evaluation, Dr. Steinbach will give you an honest, realistic estimate based on your specific situation.
What techniques does Dr. Steinbach use?
Treatment typically includes manual therapy (joint mobilization, soft tissue work), therapeutic exercise, dry needling (when appropriate), and education. Every treatment plan is individualized — no cookie-cutter protocols.
Do I get exercises to do at home?
Yes. Home exercise programs are a key part of treatment. We keep them focused and realistic — not overwhelming lists of 20 exercises.
Will PT hurt?
Physical therapy should not be painful. You may experience some soreness after sessions, similar to a workout, but treatment should always stay within a tolerable range. We adjust based on your feedback.

Insurance & Payment

Does Steinbach Physical Therapy accept insurance?
Yes. We are in-network with most major insurance plans. See our Insurance & Billing page for a full list, or call us to verify your specific coverage.
What if I don't have insurance or am out-of-network?
We offer transparent self-pay rates. Many patients find that paying out-of-pocket for individualized care is comparable to or less expensive than high-deductible insurance plans once copays and deductibles are factored in.
Do you accept HSA/FSA?
Yes. Physical therapy is an eligible medical expense for Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).

We see patients Monday through Friday, 7:00am–6:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday by appointment.
